The wooden top frame is steam-bent white oak with brass and bronze hardware. The top frame is slightly longer than the cockpit coaming opening and about the same width.
There is 6'-2" standing room under the canopy top. Period Correct Handrails The stanchions are solid cast brass or bronze and stand 4" tall. On a typical 26' launch, there are four stanchions per side on the front deck and five stanchions per side on the aft deck. The rail itself is 5/8" OD brass tubing with a 1/16" wall thickness.
Engine Boxes When using a more modern engine to power a classic launch, most people like to place an engine cover over them to maintain a antique look. One of our most popular designs is this box built to blend in with the interior cabinet design. The back of the box is fastened to the floor and can have a solid face on which the gauges can be mounted, or an open back for access to engine-mounted controls popular on pre-1920's engines.
Floor Plans There are two basic styles of floor plans for a Standard Torpedo Launch. There is an open plan where the seats are situated around the hull sides, and a forward facing plane where the seating is primarily bench seats oriented across the width of the boat.
