In the past ten years, high performance fiberglass boats from the 1960's and
1970's have become collectible investment pieces. Their restoration can be just
as involved as restoring a 1900's motor launch. Unlike wooden boats, fiberglass
boats were not constructed with repair-ability in mind. Floors set under
fiberglass rot out, stringers break after decades of collecting too many holes,
bulkheads split, transom and deck cores rot away and stress cracks spread out
over the entire hull.
