Wianno Junior Hull Number 59, in 1962

We have two Wianno Junior sailboats in our small boat shop for spec restoration this winter. Hull #9 has the original old style sail rig with the boom that over hangs the transom, and the second hull Lark has the more modern rig.

Mr. Bill Lawrence reports that, according to the 1935 fleet list, the #9 hull was named Hippen and owned by A.W. Rockwood of Wianno. That 1935 fleet list recorded 54 Junior hulls. I wonder how many were produced and how many remain? Do you know of any tucked away? How about a few good stories, maybe some pictures?

They need a little work!

A recent e-mail and photo - I love these, please keep them coming!

Greetings!

Just stumbled on your site. Here’s a photo of the Wianno Junior we owned when I was growing up, summers in Oyster Harbors. As a girl it was fun exploring Crosby’s while my uncle hung out talking there. Our family also owned Senior # 69 (can send a photo but would need to scan it).

I wish our family still had these beloved boats...but we are dispersed all over the country now.

Hope you meet your goal of a dozen restored seniors by 2014.

Thanks,
Kitty Harmon
